However, South America-based Star Alliance member Avianca just launched its own lifetime status program this week called CENIT.Here’s how it works and what it includes.RequirementsBeing a LifeMiles or it’s previous programs member for 15 years or moreBe 60 years or olderHave historically accrued a minimum of 1 million qualifying miles in your accountWhen you reach one million qualifying miles (miles flown with Avianca and AeroGal, plus fare family bonuses offered by each one) you will earn the LifeMiles Gold Elite status permanently. Also, when you reach two million qualifying miles, you will earn the LifeMiles Diamond Elite status for the rest of your life.While lifetime status is always a nice airline perk, the conditions on this one are a bit far-fetched including having to be a Lifemiles member for at least 15 years, over 60 years old and flying the million or two million miles just on Avianca or AeroGal but not other partners. Still, for you South America flyers out there, this could be worth looking into. Especially since Avianca is now one of the more interesting Star Alliance options considering the recent exit of US Airways and United’s massive mileage devaluation.
