We recommend that you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency, such as Orbitz or Expedia, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. However, if you’re using the American Express Platinum Card, you’ll need to book directly with the airline or through Amex Travel portal to get 5x MR points. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz or Expedia’s courtesy cancellation if you’re unable to get the time away from work or family.Norwegian Air Shuttle continues to amaze us with its cheap transatlantic flights. Today we are seeing incredible deals from Oakland (OAK) and New York’s JFK to Scandinavia’s Stockholm (ARN) and Copenhagen (CPH). Just make sure to wear a heavy coat on-board so you don’t take up valuable bag space, as these cheap flights are mostly found in the dead of winter.Google Flights will price out separate tickets and alert you when this option is cheaper. The easiest way to get a lower price is to use the Google Flights “separate tickets” feature. For some itineraries, Google Flights will prompt you to book the outbound and inbound segments separately. One will book through the US version of the site, while the other through a foreign site (in our example it’s the Swedish version). However, to save even more, you can find a low-priced itinerary on Google Flights and then head to the Norwegian or Swedish version of the carrier’s site and input your dates directly. Booking flights solely from the international websites is a reliable way of saving even more when booking Norwegian Air Shuttle flights.Airlines: NorwegianRoute: OAK/JFK to ARN/CPHCost: $226+ round-trip in economyDates: January — March 2017Pay With: The Platinum Card from American Express (5x on airfare), Chase Sapphire Reserve, Premier Rewards Gold Card from American Express, Citi Prestige (3x on airfare) or Chase Sapphire Preferred (2x on travel)Here are a few examples of what you can book:New York (JFK) to Stockholm (ARN) for 2,073 SEK (US$226) round-trip in January:Oakland (OAK) to Stockholm (ARN) for 2,206 SEK (US$240) round-trip in January:Sign up for our daily newsletterEmail addressSign upI would like to subscribe to The Points Guy newsletters and special email promotions.
