If you purchase the full 30,000 points, this bonus is higher than any offer we’ve ever seen from the carrier.The DetailsThis current promo is tiered, so the more points you purchase the larger your bonus will be. The breakdown is as follows:3,000-9,500 points: 25% bonus10,000-29,500 points: 50% bonus30,000 points: 75% bonusTrueBlue points usually cost between 2.9-3.7 cents apiece with a 7.5% tax recovery fee. If you maximize this bonus by purchasing 30,000 points (for a total of 52,500 points with the bonus), the per-point cost goes down to about 1.7 cents including taxes. Note that you can purchase a maximum of 30,000 points per transaction, and no more than 60,000 points in a calendar year.Is It Worth It?According to TPG’s latest valuations, JetBlue TrueBlue points are worth 1-1.4 cents apiece. Since the carrier’s award rates correspond to cash prices, it can be challenging to find super-valuable redemptions. For example, these flights from New York-JFK to Los Angeles (LAX) in late July start at $252 in economy and $549 in Mint business class.If you redeemed for the same itinerary, you’d need to redeem 18,200 points plus $5.60 for the cheapest coach option, or 41,400 plus $5.60 for the cheapest Mint option.That works out to a value of 1.4 cents per point for coach, and 1.3 cents per point for Mint. That’s not amazing, considering that with the current 75% bonus promotion you’ll be paying — at best— 1.7 cents per point. See privacy policy.If you’re looking for other ways to top off your TrueBlue account, remember that the program is a transfer partner of American Express Membership Rewards, so if you have a card like The Platinum Card from American Express or the Amex EveryDay Preferred Card you can transfer points to JetBlue at a 250:200 ratio. That rate isn’t ideal, but if you just need a small boost toward an award or you have enough Membership Rewards points to sacrifice some value this could be an option to consider.Finally, remember that TrueBlue points purchases are processed by Points.com, so you won’t earn any category bonuses for airfare or travel when using cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card or the Premier Rewards Gold Card from American Express.
