The discounted rates are available through the end of the week, Dec. 16, and apply toward travel dates between Dec. 12, 2018 and March 31, 2019.Awesome news, right? Not so fast. Wow Air has been struggling of late, with numerous route cancellations and layoffs affecting more than 100 employees. The airline has also reduced its fleet from 20 to 11 aircraft, returning all four of its Airbus A330s and putting four of its A321s on the market for $10 million in an attempt to raise some much-needed funds.As of yet, Wow has not announced which routes will be cut, and the airline has vowed to leave December through early January trips intact – good news for travelers with impending flights. However, changes are on the horizon, and they’re almost certain to affect at least some passengers with pre-ticketed travel.If you couldn’t resist buying that $160 round-trip airfare deal to Iceland, don’t fret. Protect yourself in the event that Wow cancels your flight – or worse – by making sure you book your trip with a credit card that offers trip protection. Canceled vacation disappointment is oh-so-much sharper when it comes alongside of financial loss – and these days with cards that offer trip protection, there’s no reason to suffer. If you pay for your travel plans with the Chase Sapphire Reserve or Chase Sapphire Preferred, the Chase Ink Preferred card, the Citi Prestige or Citi Premier, or the Platinum Card by American Express, you can get your money back in the event that Wow Air cancels your trip. Don’t forget that a canceled flight also affects any hotel reservations you make, so be sure to pay for your hotel with the same card, too.
