Now, renderings for the luxury hotel have been released, and they look pretty spectacular. The hotel is still expected to have 137 rooms and a spa, but now we know that it will also have “five restaurants, six retail units, a spa, and a ballroom,” according to One Mile at a Time. So it’s no wonder the hotel’s not set to open until 2023.“By re-imagining the site of the former US Embassy, a Grade II listed building, we hope to provide a coveted experience within the prestigious neighbourhood of Mayfair that truly embodies Rosewood’s Sense of Place philosophy,” Radha Arora, president of Rosewood Hotels and Resorts, said.Since the beginning, it was clear that the project would be reminiscent of the Embassy – the stone facades and aluminum eagle have been projected to stay.“We are excited to open up this historic part of Grosvenor Square once again, for guests and the public to enjoy, creating a welcoming environment that reflects both the historic nature of the building yet also bringing a fresh sensibility to this significant area,” Arora explained.Sign up for our daily newsletterEmail addressSign upI would like to subscribe to The Points Guy newsletters and special email promotions. The structure combines a sturdy stone surface in lovely combination with lots of weightless glass.Once the hotel has been completely renovated, it’s said to be worth £1 billion ($1.3 billion).Unfortunately, Rosewood hotels don’t participate in any of the major points programs. So, it is best to book the (generally quite pricey) rooms on a card that gives the best return on paid stays, such as the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, which earns 10x miles per dollar spent on hotel reservations when booked through the special link at hotels.com.
