Niagara Falls Is Partially Frozen Fully Mesmerizing In Cold Weather Snap

See privacy policy.Thanks to frigid temperatures across the Northeast this weekend, parts of Niagara Falls have frozen solid.The cold snap, which has caused some heavy snow in the Midwest and brittle cold in the Northeast, has had quite the mesmerizing effect on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. The effect, while a stunning phenomenon, is one that occurs pretty commonly over certain periods of the extra-cold months. Our very own Darren Murph experienced the deep freeze himself when visiting Niagara Falls back in January 2013.“Getting a better view of the frozen falls," Darren Murph/TPG.Visitor Emma Grafham told CNN that the view reminded her of the Disney movie ‘Frozen.’“There was even this set of stairs that were placed just outside the look-on spot, and they had so much ice on them, it looked like Elsa had just cast her arm out and summoned up some stairs like she does in the movie,” she said.

So, if you’re anything like Elsa (i.e., the cold doesn’t bother you), now would be a good time to stop by Niagara Falls for a weekend getaway. If you’re part of a hotel loyalty program, there are plenty of reward hotels in the surrounding area, including the Marriott Niagara Falls, Hilton Niagara Falls and the Embassy Suites by Hilton. Just remember to bring your heavy coat, as intense wind chills can cause temperatures to feel below zero degrees.
