Update 10/17/18 2:11pm: A Delta spokesperson told TPG that the comments in Tara Reid’s statement are inconsistent with what the airline’s flight attendants and crew onboard told the airline about the incident. The airline says Reid’s behavior was unruly and disruptive during boarding, push back and taxi, so the crew deemed her unfit to fly and returned the plane to the gate.Actress Tara Reid is speaking out after video of her leaving a Delta flight before takeoff on Monday morning went viral....

Four American tourists and a local guide died in Costa Rica Saturday afternoon after turbulent conditions in the Naranjo River caused their rafts to capsize.The tragedy occurred in Liverpool de Quepos, near Costa Rica’s west coast, around 30 miles south of San Jose, where local authorities said rainfall had bloated the river and called for a flood alert. Five guides leading a 14-person bachelor party embarked on a rafting tour around 3pm local time Saturday, shortly after poor weather conditions from earlier in the day had improved....

Cuban authorities have detected a deadly strain of the dengue virus spreading throughout the Caribbean island nation. The specific type of dengue has not been detected on Cuba since 1977.Dengue is a virus transmitted by mosquitoes, mostly by the common Aedes Aegypti mosquito, the same carrier of Zika, yellow fever and chikungunya. Residents and tourists visiting the island should be sure to wear a potent mosquito repellent to prevent mosquito bites....

TPG reader Aproujan sent me a tweet to ask about airline schedules:“Do you know of any nighttime Transatlantic flights from Europe to the US?”Some people hate red-eye flights and avoid them whenever possible, but I think nighttime departures have a certain allure. There’s something romantic about boarding a plane in the evening, (hopefully) falling asleep and waking up on a new day in some other part of the world. Of course, it doesn’t hurt to have a comfortable lie-flat seat (or perhaps your own bedroom in the sky), but no matter which cabin you’re flying in, I’ve found most red-eye flights to be fairly pleasant....

Last year, Josh and I met up with some friends at the Andaz Costa Rica for a few days filled with outstanding coffee, fresh seafood, sleeping in, and time at the pool. We loved this location and the resort so much that we decided on the spot to return with our girls a year later. It did not hurt that the resort is an outstanding deal as a Category 4 Hyatt property where you can use Category 1 - 4 certificates or just 15,000 World of Hyatt points per night....

Recently, rumors circulated that American Express was officially closing all Amex Zync Card accounts at the end of March 2020 based on an email a group of cardholders received. I reached out to Amex to confirm, and a representative clarified that Amex had no plans to unilaterally close all existing Zync accounts. The emails that were cited in recent reports were actually part of a regular review process. Amex only sent out a small batch of emails to affected cardholders....

Former Utah Jazz point guard Eric Murdock, together with a fellow traveler, filed a $10 million lawsuit against United Airlines this week. Murdock is suing over a confrontation with a flight attendant in July that resulted in the retired NBA record-setter being escorted off United Airlines Flight 1537 by local TSA officials.New Jersey native Murdock, 50, was flying from Las Vegas to Newark this summer when he asked a flight attendant if he and his son, who were seated in separate rows, could switch from their assigned seats to the empty emergency exit row....
