Just minutes after departing from Rome’s Fiumicino Airport Saturday, Norwegian Flight 7115 to Los Angeles started raining engine parts on a suburb near the Italian capital.According to Italian media reports, the debris came from the plane’s left engine and gave one pedestrian minor burns in Isola Sacra, a neighborhood near Rome’s airport in Fiumicino. The incident also damaged houses and cars in the area.Eyewitnesses said the glowing pieces of metal were like bullets falling from the sky, others said it was a stroke of good luck that there were not more injuries or worse property damage....

When New York City passed a series of laws in August to start regulating the ride-hailing industry, the contentious law and its effects were widely debated.Most notably, the New York City Council passed a cap on new licenses for ride-hailing vehicles (e.g. Ubers and Lyfts). The body also said it planned to establish a minimum pay for drivers. And this Tuesday, the Council actually passed a law that would implement this new minimum wage-esque rule....

United Airlines and Expedia got closer to possibly resolving their dispute on Friday, after United had threatened to remove its fares from the popular online travel agency on Monday amidst an on-going dispute with Expedia Group, according to Skift. United’s original decision to pull fares from Expedia stemmed from a lawsuit filed by the travel agency. However, as of Friday, the airline has reversed its decision to remove its fares from Expedia while the two entities work towards mutually agreeable terms....

Late last year, American Airlines announced that it would be rolling out a dedicated premium economy cabin sometime in late-2016 — and now we know exactly when that’ll be. The carrier will launch its new premium economy service with its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which will begin flying from Dallas to Madrid and Sao Paulo on November 4.Note that premium economy is an entirely new product, rather than simply a rebranding of Main Cabin Extra, which will still be available....

American Airlines has extended its cancellations for flights operated by the Boeing 737 MAX through August 19, becoming the latest airline to scrap its plans to fly the plane through the busy summer travel season. American’s decision highlights just how difficult it will be to resolve safety issues for the jet and adds a headache to hundreds of thousands of vacationers who need need to deal with schedule changes. The cancellation will impact 115 flights per day, the airline said in a statement....

A retired British Airways 747 aircraft will set off for a new role as a film and TV set in Surrey, England today.The aircraft will be handed over to Dunsfold Aerodrome near Cranleigh where it will be preserved as a commercial film set and training facility, according to British Airways.For more TPG news delivered each morning to your inbox, sign up for our daily newsletter.The plan is for the 747 to feature “more prominently in front of the camera” and be used as a mock-up for interior and exterior shots for TV and film....
