You may have noticed someone touching the aircraft upon boarding or making a hand gesture that resembles the sign of a cross....

They are strange creatures, airports: Whether or not you’re ensconced in a lounge, they are places that seem to exist outside of time. But in the end, they can’t escape it. And when an airport bites the dust, it can look and feel almost otherworldly, like a zombie. Or something like that.How do big hunks of concrete take such ghostly turns? Maybe there was a war or, more likely, a bigger and badder airport came along and no one got around to completely demolishing the previous one....

Air Canada said it’s looking into a claim that a passenger slept through deplaning and then was left by herself on the plane after the process was complete.According to a Facebook post her friend wrote to the airline on her behalf, Tiffani Adams allegedly fell asleep on a flight from Quebec to Toronto and awoke to find herself alone on a dark plane, parked far away from the airport terminal.The post said that Adams’ seat was still reclined and her tray table down, even after the plane had landed, all the other passengers had disembarked....

Visiting Charlotte, North Carolina, or just passing through the airport with a long layover? Consider taking some time to visit the Carolinas Aviation Museum. The museum is only a stone’s throw from the passenger terminals and can be reached easily by Uber/Lyft or taxi. View the current offers here.While hosting my latest TPG Reader Meet-Up in Chicago last weekend, I was supposed to stay at the W Lakeshore Chicago, but when checking in at 5pm, I was told that 2 out of 3 rooms were not available and that my suite wouldn’t be available until 9pm or so. I had a live TV interview to prepare for and dinner plans, so I was not pleased with the poor service at the W and their attitude was less than conciliatory- they simply blamed ongoing construction for the mix-up and didn’t offer compensation, until I asked and then they finally agreed to pay for dinner- which wasn’t an option since I already had plans....

Upgrades: the magical benefit of getting to fly in first class even though you booked economy. Unfortunately, upgrades don’t seem to be as easy to get as they used to be, with airlines reducing prices for first class seats and offering cheap cash or mileage upgrades. After all, airlines would rather make money filling those last seats in the forward cabin rather than give them away for free.Despite the introduction of spending requirements, in addition to mileage, to get airline elite status, there seem to be more airline elites in the skies than ever....

IndiGo has passed flag carrier Air India as the largest international airline operating to and from India based on passengers carried, reports CAPA India. Norwegian Air is in a lot of debt, and it’s asking its bondholders for more time to pay off a whopping $380 million in outstanding debt.According to Reuters, the airline is willing to use its take-off and landing slots at London Gatwick (LGW) as security. This is just the latest news in what has been a particularly turbulent few years for the low-cost airline, which has struggled to become financially profitable....

Norwegian Air has a dress policy that bars female flight attendants from wearing flats outside the plane without a doctor’s note.In a 22-page dress code obtained by The Independent, the budget airline states that women are required to wear heels that are at least two centimeters high on the tarmac or out in the airport. If they want to wear flats, they must carry a doctor’s note with them at all times — and that note has to be updated every six months....
