Alaska Airlines’ operations are back up and running after a brief power outage in the Seattle area caused the airline to ground all flights. The airline, which is based in Seattle, grounded operations between 4:20am and 5:15am. Multiple flights were delayed and a few flights were canceled as a result of the system-wide outage.The Seattle area experienced unusually strong winds early this morning. The wind gusts, which are reported to have exceeded 60 mph, prompted the local National Weather Service office in Seattle to issue a High Wind Warning....

Hawaiian Airlines’ Boeing 717s will keep flying through at least 2025.Hawaiian operates 20 of the Boeings, which represent the backbone of the carrier’s inter-island fleet, CEO Peter Ingram said Thursday during the airline’s quarterly earnings call.“There is no plane flying today that is better suited for the unique missions we fly in the Neighbor Island network than the 717 based on its size, economics and durability,” he said.But, he suggested, the airline may begin to phase out those aircraft in about five years....

Hilton is taking a step in to unchartered territory — at least for a major hotel chain. Based on feedback the brand received, it is launching a hostel-like stay within the Hilton portfolio, called Motto by Hilton.The hotel chain describes the brand, the fifteenth under its umbrella, as “a micro-hotel with an urban vibe in prime global locations.” So, what exactly does that mean? According to Tripp McLaughlin, the global head of Motto by Hilton, the term micro-hotel means you should expect small, efficient and standardized rooms — so small, you can expect an average footprint of 163 square feet, or about half the size of a traditional Hampton room....

In an unprecedented situation, more than 800,000 federal workers spent 35 days employed but unpaid between December 2018 and January 2019. Newly released information suggests that it may have taken as few as 10 employees calling out sick on Jan. 25 to get those paychecks trickling back in.Six air traffic controllers in Leesburg, Virginia, and four air traffic controllers in Jacksonville, Florida, took sick leave that day, causing what the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) called at the time “a slight increase in sick leave....

The world’s largest hotel company will soon lay claim to having the world’s tallest modular hotel when the AC Hotel New York NoMad debuts next year. Unlike, well, pretty much every other hotel ever built, this one isn’t expected to take years or even decades to build.
