Update: American is launching premium economy service from Dallas to São Paulo (GRU) one day earlier than expected, on November 3, 2016.American Airlines will be adding a 787-9 Dreamliner to its fleet later this year, making it the first of its aircraft to feature a dedicated premium economy cabin. While AA will initially only feature the new product on flights between its Dallas (DFW) hub and Madrid (MAD) and São Paulo (GRU) beginning November 4, the carrier recently announced it’ll be debuting its 787-9 Dreamliner domestically first, starting October 6, on the Dallas (DFW) to Los Angeles (LAX) route....

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced a plan on Tuesday to add a $4 fee on ride-hailing car services (like Uber, Lyft, etc.) and taxis for pick-ups at New York City-area airports.The plan will also raise tolls at bridges and tunnels and increase fares on the PATH rail service, as well as air trains to John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) and Newark Airport (EWR).The excess fees are to help to keep up with inflation and fund more than $30 billion in capital projects over the next decade, AP reported....

A passenger helicopter, which ferries flyers from Manhattan to New York City’s airports and to the Hamptons for the company BLADE, plunged into the Hudson River on Wednesday afternoon.The New York Fire Department confirmed that there were no passengers on board, only the pilot, who survived the incident. The helicopter is owned and operated by Zip Aviation. It operates flights for BLADE.Unconfirmed video of the incident on social media shows the helicopter struggling to stay in the air, circling as it drops closer and closer to the water’s surface and eventually plunging into the river....

The points/dollars difference between flying and taking the train was pretty insignificant, but we decided that taking the train would be far easier than getting out to the airports (especially in NYC), going through security, dealing with delays into NYC, etc....
