An Air Berlin passenger who had a flight cancelled by the bankrupt carrier when it ceased flight operations recently received a bizarre notice from the company.The passenger, who paid for the plane tickets with a Chase card, reached out to dispute the charge when they learned that the plane wasn’t going to leave the ground. Chase refunded the charge to the passenger as we would all expect.That’s where things seem to run off the rails....

Denver International Airport likes to do things on a grand scale, from its mountaintop-like roof to the wintertime ice skating rink it’s operated. Not to mention the airport’s massive growth plans for the coming years, looking to expand the airport with an additional 39 gates costing $1.5 billion. It’s no surprise, then, that when it comes to signage, the airport goes big as well.Anyone flying in or out of Denver International Airpot (DEN) in the past year has surely noticed the giant LED lighting and advertising display on Pena Blvd....

United or Eastern?That decision only sounds like a throwback to the 1980s. Instead, it will be the choice for New Yorkers looking for nonstop flights to Los Cabos, Mexico, this winter.Eastern Airlines plans to enter the market later this year, adding two nonstop flights a week connecting New York JFK to the beach resort on Mexico’s Baja California peninsula.Eastern’s website says flights are scheduled to begin Aug. 29, though its booking engine doesn’t list any flights for sale on the route until Nov....

Hyatt announced this morning that it will be forming a strategic joint venture with a major hotel group in China — potentially expanding the World of Hyatt loyalty program’s footprint by thousands of properties in Asia over the coming years.Hyatt and Homeinns, a Chinese hotel chain, will create a new hospitality brand in China that is aimed at younger travelers in the upper-midscale segment. Airbus introduced the newest member of its A320 family on Monday: the A321XLR. The new variant has a range of about 5,400 miles, and according to Airbus, a 30% increase in fuel efficiency over some of its competitors.The new plane, introduced at the 2019 Paris Air Show, really expands the map of cities that could be linked by direct air service. With the A321XLR, airlines will have an extremely economical option for long-haul flights, according to Airbus....

Despite rumors that American Airlines flight attendants could be required to start cleaning aircraft cabins between flights, with the change going into effect as early as May, APFA National President Lori Bassani confirms to TPG that the news is not true. The elimination of third-party cleaning crews could be seen as a a way to get the company closer to its profit goals, or closer to the elusive on-time departure by cutting down on the time spent waiting for a separate cleaning crew to show up and prep aircraft between flights....
