It was a wild ride.In 2017, a Challenger 604 business jet was passing under a much larger and heavier Airbus A380 over the Indian Ocean. The A380 was flying 1,000 feet above in the opposite direction. (This may seem dangerously close, but a separation of 1,000 feet is standard procedure.) The smaller jet rolled over at least three times, injuring several passengers. Its cabin looked like a bag of Halloween candy dumped out by a kid, and while it managed to make it safely to an emergency landing in Oman, it was written off....

It’s been a rough end of the year for WOW Air. After quickly expanding to markets across the US, the ultra-low-cost carrier has cancelled a slew of routes as fuel prices have increased and routes haven’t performed as well as expected. New York’s JFK, Dallas, St. Louis, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Tel Aviv routes have been causalities of WOW Air’s retraction so far.[Update, 3/28/2019: WOW Air has ceased operations. The latest idea I’ve stumbled upon comes from the Great Wolf Lodge in my Georgia hometown.Starting at $10,000 you can “Own the Park” for up to 50 guests to enjoy 2.5 hours of private park access after regular water park operating hours. You also get 10 Family Suites for the overnight stay, a complimentary refreshment station in the park with soft drinks, water, iced tea, and snacks, a stocked mini-fridge in each suite with bottled water, non-alcoholic beverages, a snack basket, and a welcome gift valued at $50 and private breakfast for your party the morning after your water park access....

Following months-long delays, United finally opened the doors to three new Polaris Lounges earlier this year: Houston (IAH), Newark (EWR) and the largest location to date in San Francisco (SFO). Those three US-based lounges join the first (and since expanded) lounge at Chicago O’Hare (ORD), which opened in December 2016.While I did have an opportunity to tour the SFO Polaris Lounge a few days before it opened in April, I’ve been hoping to return for a full review....

Register here (The link has been taken down, but I will post it when its live again) for double points on two-night stays and triple Starpoints on three night stays or longer.In my opinion, it’s a decent promotion, but nothing spectacular. I’m most annoyed that Asia Pacific is excluded (this was confirmed by Starwood), since I am going to China in early January....

Etihad is suspending its Abu Dhabi (AUH) to Dallas (DFW) route in 2018. The carrier announced on Thursday that effective March 25, it’ll no longer operate to the Texan city — a decision it’s blaming on American Airlines.Etihad launched the AUH-DFW route in December 2014 with 3x weekly service before upgrading it to daily service in February 2017. However, in recent months, tension between American Airlines and Etihad has grown. Most recently, in July, American announced it was going to end its codeshare agreements with both Etihad and Qatar....

A boutique hotel complex in Nairobi, Kenya, is reportedly under attack as of Tuesday afternoon local time.Witnesses reported seeing four armed men enter the DusitD2 hotel complex in the capital city’s upscale Westlands district at about 3pm local time. Reports of two blasts and automatic gunfire followed. The hotel’s offices are reportedly housed in the compound next to the hotel.According to the BBC, local police are treating the incident as a terror attack....
