Tempe Police Chief Sylvia Moir says that Uber’s self-driving car likely wasn’t at fault in the recent death of a pedestrian.Elaine Herzberg, 49, died in Tempe, Arizona, after being hit by an Uber self-driving car outside of a crosswalk on March 18 around 10pm. The vehicle was in self-driving mode, but it had a human driver behind the wheel for back-up when the collision occurred.Uber’s self-driving cars are fitted with multiple video cameras, which showed a woman pushing a bicycle laden with plastic shopping bags abruptly walking from a center median into a lane of traffic....

Si, señor! You can now officially request a Spanish-speaking UberX driver in six US cities. Previously launched in San Diego, Phoenix and Tucson, this option is now available in Los Angeles, Orange County and Chicago as well. Uber is hoping to cater to multicultural communities and travelers visiting the United States, and this seems like a great start.Now you can request a Spanish-speaking UberX driver. Four major hotels in China issued apologies Thursday after a viral hidden camera video revealed their housekeeping teams were cutting major corners when tidying up the hotels’ rooms.Footage by an activist blogger, who only identifies himself as “Huazong,” was posted on the Chinese Twitter-like site Weibo late on Wednesday. The 11-minute video shows the cleaning crews wiping the cups and sinks in the rooms with filthy towels and sponges — some cleaners even use the same towel on the cups as they did on the toilet seat....

Lufthansa flight attendants are going on strike this week, and as a result Germany’s flag carrier will be canceling 1,300 flights on Thursday Nov. 7 and Friday Nov. 8.
