View the current offers here.US Airways has sent out a targeted offer this afternoon to folks who bought or gifted miles in 2013 to earn a 100% bonus on purchased miles now through January 31, 2014. that means you can buy US Airways miles for the bargain price of just 1.88 cents each.I thought we might have seen the last of the US Airways 100% buy miles bonus now that the merger with American Airlines is going full steam and the two have announced reciprocal earning and redeeming of miles on each other, but it appears that those of us who purchased these Star Alliance miles on the cheap last year have another chance to rack them up....

It appears that these fares seem to be United-centric fares from American Airlines hubs like Miami and Dallas/Ft. Forth. It will be interesting to see if American decides to fire back with cheap fares from some of United’s hubs....

View the current offers here.Through April 2, Fiji Airways is offering an excellent sale on nonstop flights from its US gateways, including Honolulu, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The sale applies to flights from HNL or LAX between April 1 and June 13, or flights from SFO between July 14 and August 14, 2016. Fiji’s site claims that you’ll be able to earn mileage with American AAdvantage and Alaska Mileage Plan, but it appears that these flights may book into the “R” fare class, which would not earn miles with a partner program....

Delta isn’t exactly in the movie set making business, but it might want to consider renting its newest facility out to science fiction filmmakers whenever a massive jet engine isn’t being tested within. When flying to and from Iceland, you may not expect to find yourself on a plane with propellers. But that’s exactly what will happen this summer. Two flights a week from Reykjavik to Dublin, Ireland, and Manchester, England, will be served by De Havilland Canada Dash 8 turboprop planes beginning July 15.The flights have a similar scheduled duration as those operated by jet aircraft on the route, and aside from the different method of propulsion, they should be fairly on-par to those operated by jets....

In a horrible turn of already tragic events, it appears that Tuesday’s crash of Germanwings Flight 4U9525 over a remote, snow-bound stretch of the French Alps may have been intentionally caused by its 28-year-old co-pilot, Andreas Lubitz. All 144 passengers and six crew aboard the Airbus A320 were killed.According to a black box voice recorder recovered from Germanwings Flight 4U9525, Tuesday’s crash of the Airbus A320 may have been deliberately caused by its co-pilot....

In case you didn’t know, American Airlines, Delta, JetBlue and United all have business rewards programs which are designed to reward employers for their employee’s travels. In addition to the standard miles that travelers get from flying, the corporate account racks up points, which can be redeemed for free flights, upgrades and club passes or memberships.American Airlines’ version of this program is called Business Extra, and it’s a great way to “double dip” on AA flights....

Iberia took delivery of its first Airbus A350 in June and placed it on the New York (JFK) - Madrid (MAD) route in August. Today, the airline is announcing that it’s adding the new aircraft to its Chicago service.Starting in May 2019, Iberia will fly its A350 nonstop between Chicago (ORD) to Madrid. It also announced it will fly the aircraft between Buenos Aries (EZE) and Madrid in February 2019.The Spanish airline has ordered 16 A350-900s and have already received two from Airbus, it will take delivery of three of them in 2019 and the remaining through 2021....

Miami International Airport (MIA) said it would close one of its terminals for half of the day on Saturday, Sunday and Monday due to a shortage of Transport Security Administration officers during the partial shutdown of the US government.The airport’s Terminal G security checkpoints will be closed after 1pm during the three-day window, Gregg Chin, a spokesperson for MIA, told The Miami Herald. MIA has a total of six terminals. Chin said the “precautionary step” means 12 flights would be relocated to the airport’s adjoining concourses in the afternoons, and noted that the terminal’s closure was in light of “an increased number of TSA screeners not reporting to work....

For the second time in just 14 days, Newark Airport (EWR) was forced to ground all flights Saturday morning as a result of a disabled aircraft occupying one of the airport’s two main runways.
