After three months with airplanes and airports often completely deserted, U.S. airlines are beginning to bring planes back into service. Jets that have been grounded for months are flying again. Hundreds are returning: American Airlines has brought back 64 stored jets for its June schedule and plans to bring another 141 back from storage in July. Delta will resume flying 120 of its grounded jets between May and July. The other majors are also taking planes out of storage....

Radisson Rewards instituted its 2019 category award category changes today. On the whole, the Radisson Rewards changes this year weren’t too bad. Heads up, San Francisco International Airport travelers: The airport announced Tuesday that all ride-hailing pickups will be relocated from terminal curbsides to a parking garage beginning in June. According to SFGate, the decision comes as the airport looks to reduce the number of traffic related to ride-hailing pickups. With the move, San Francisco International Airport (SFO) joins other major airports like Seattle International Airport and New York LaGuardia in relocating pickups to a central location away from terminal curbsides....

Sometimes, being in the right place at the right time enables you to be a part of history. While United’s inaugural 787-10 flight isn’t slated to occur until Jan. 7, 2019, a last-minute switcheroo on a flight between Newark (EWR) and Los Angeles (LAX) saw the usual 787-8 yanked in favor of the comparatively ginormous 787-10.Thanks to an eagle-eyed TPG reader and confirmation from United, we parted ways with 35,000 MileagePlus miles to confirm one of the last Polaris business-class seats on the Newark to LA leg....

With its stock down nearly 50% from its January 2018 high, American Airlines released its third-quarter earnings and held an investor call Thursday morning. Although operating income and net income both dropped by 48% from the same period in 2017, the airline did better than analysts expected.In the presentation and subsequent Q&A session, AA management shared a variety of interesting updates. But, perhaps the most relevant to flyers is AA’s announcement of when its Dallas/Fort Worth Flagship Lounge and Flagship First Dining will open: first quarter of 2019....

Asia’s largest low-cost airline is looking to jump-start new technologies aimed at making travel easier.AirAsia announced Monday morning that it was establishing a venture capital fund designed to support start-ups that can help create a “travel technology ecosystem” in Southeast Asia. The goal, AirAsia’s CEO, Tony Fernandes, said in a statement, is to leverage the airline’s “network, data and regional expertise” in the fields of travel, lifestyle, logistics and financial technology....
