Travelers may soon be able to travel to Vietnam from the United States nonstop aboard an Airbus A380, the iconic superjumbo. Vietnamese startup Bamboo Airways hopes to launch service between the two countries as early as next year. According to the airline’s chief executive, the only hurdle is government approval.Bamboo Airways confirms that the airline has applied to serve the US, however, it is unclear as to when the US government could make a decision on whether or not to grant the airline approval to serve the US....

This was officially called a snow “squall,” which, according to Merriam-Webster, is a “sudden violent wind often with rain or snow,” and came with little warning other than a tweet from NYC mayor Bill DeBlasio....

It has been a rough several months for airlines, mainly due to the recent rise of the cost of fuel.Earlier this year, airlines’ fuel costs were at their highest in years. Jet fuel was up 50% year-over-year during the summer, and in October it jumped about 33% compared to the same month in 2017. Fuel is, for the most part, airlines’ second largest cost overall. And the added pressure of oil prices has brought some low-cost carriers, like Wow Air, to the brink of shuttering operations for good....

Two JetBlue flight attendants are suing the airline in federal court in New York, saying two JetBlue pilots drugged them and raped one of the women and another crew member while on a layover in Puerto Rico in 2018.The complaint also alleges that after the women approached the airline to complain, JetBlue did not take any disciplinary action against the two pilots. JetBlue, and the two pilots, Eric Johnson and Dan Watson, are all named as defendants in the suit....

American Airlines has opened 15 new gates in the Terminal E satellite at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, supporting more than 100 daily regional flights for American Eagle service.The renovated space also includes new ticket counters and gate areas, ramp lighting, moving walkways, elevators and escalators. And here’s the kicker — later this summer, AA will also open up a new Admirals Club in Terminal E and house the only Whataburger in the entire airport....

The French government announced on Tuesday that it plans to introduce a new environment tax on flights departing from France, beginning next year. The “ecotax” will range in amount between €1.50 and €18 ($1.70 and $20) as part of the government’s bid to help the environment.Air France followed Tuesday’s announcement by releasing a statement, saying that it “strongly disapproves” of the proposal.“This new tax would significantly penalize Air France’s competitiveness, at a time when the company needs to strengthen its investment capacity to more rapidly reduce its environmental footprint, notably as part of its fleet renewal policy,” the airline said in the statement....

Airline mistake fares still happen on a regular basis, but the rare breed nowadays is the airline that honors the must lucrative mistake fares.In situations where the prices are ridiculously low, airlines argue that passengers should have known it was a mistake and cancel the bookings accordingly. Hong Kong Airlines set itself apart when it chose to honor $600 round-trip flights from the US to Asia last year. Even better, folks were able to book the carrier’s brand new Airbus A350....

Los Angeles International airport has a gate problem. More flights come and go from the airport than it has gates to handle, with buses used for some flights arriving and departing from the busy Tom Bradley International Terminal.LAX, the second busiest airport in the US, has big plans to reduce the number of flights that need to park remotely. The first will be the new 12-gate Midfield Satellite Concourse North that is due to open next summer....

A man who went overboard from a Carnival Cruise ship has been identified as 22-year-old Luke Renner from Georgia.Renner went overboard on Sunday from a Carnival Fantasy cruise. He was on a group trip with nine people from the Wishes4Me foundation, which booked the five-day voyage leaving out of Mobile, Alabama, for special needs travelers.According to the Miami Herald, Renner’s travel companions, which included three chaperones, reported him missing on board the ship....
