It’s no secret that there’s a showdown between online travel agencies (OTAs) and their hotel (or airline) competitors. From no-status stays to slashed perks, the relationship between sites like Priceline and hotels is both symbiotic and tense. But what about other OTAs?Two days ago, Spanish news agency Preferente broke the news that Amoma, one of the final independent online travel agencies, had ceased operations. In a message posted on its site, Amoma blamed noncompetitive ‘price comparators’ for its woes, which give preference to their own listings for booking, as opposed those cheapest or most highly rated....

The travel industry has had a tough time staying out of the news lately, and for all the wrong reasons. If it’s not a news story on the travel ban or a primer on how to best protect your electronics when you need to check them, it could be a viral video of a bumped passenger being forcibly removed from a plane or a fist fight between travelers making the rounds....

If you were supposed to be flying British Airways on Tuesday, you’re definitely still on the ground. There are absolutely no BA flights aloft at the moment, as the airline goes into the second day of a planned pilot’s strike.Earlier today, there was one single BA aircraft in the sky, but it appears to have been a 747 ferrying from London Heathrow to Bournemouth, likely just to park for day two of the industrial action....

And with a little flexibility and luck, I was able to use 80,000 Delta miles and only $47 in taxes to visit three cities en route to Sydney. (Delta miles also transfer from Amex Membership rewards, so it is easy to top off your account if needed....

Not only that, but it replaces the Boeing 747 as Delta’s flagship aircraft. On top of all that, the arrival of the A350 into Delta’s fleet also brought its all-new business-class cabin featuring private suites for every passenger, as well as an all-new premium economy product....

A Hawaiian Airlines flight to New York (JFK) was diverted to San Francisco (SFO) after a flight attendant suffered a fatal medical emergency. According to NBC News, it is unclear whether the flight attendant “died during the flight or after landing.“Details are still scant, but according to Hawaii News Now, “crew members performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation for hours but could not revive the flight attendant, who reportedly had more than 30 years of service....
