My last flight on Singapore 21, the airline’s nonstop service from Newark (EWR) to Changi Airport (SIN), was in 2013.After reading TPG’s 2012 review, I decided to cover the journey for Engadget, my employer at the time, spending some 18 hours on SQ’s gas-guzzling Airbus A340-500, a four-engine ultra-long-haul aircraft capable of making the 9,500-mile journey from New York to SIN without a refueling stop. Days later, the plane was retired, and so was the route — with hopes to eventually bring it back....

Cathay Pacific announced on Wednesday that a data breach has affected 9.4 million of its customers.The airline said it has not found any evidence that the customer information stolen has been misused yet. Data taken by the hackers includes passenger name, nationality, date of birth, phone number, email, address, passport number, identity card number, frequent flyer program membership number, customer service remarks and historical travel information.Cathay Pacific also noted that a handful of credit card numbers were stolen: 27 credit card numbers with no CVV number were taken, along with 403 expired credit card numbers....

Call it the Mile Dry Club. Though for many travelers the process of journeying from Point A to Point B is the perfect opportunity to kick back and enjoy a cocktail or two, there are airlines where liquor is verboten. That makes sense when you consider the cultural context of an airline, which functions as an ambassador of sorts, and more so than most companies tends to answer to the social mores of its flag country....

View the current offers here.Amex is running a great new promotion called the Gift Chain, where all you need to do is register your card and then shop online at select retailers and you’ll receive special gifts for purchases $25+ between now and December 21, 2011 (or until supplies last). I have two Amex charge cards (Premier Rewards Gold and Platinum) and I was able to register both to different email addresses and get 10 gifts for the Premier Rewards and 10 gifts for the second card, though the rules seem to state that it’s a 10 gift max per card member- that does not seem to be the case (at least not for me)....

Gusts of wind up to 62 mph have been causing flight delays at airports throughout the mid-Atlantic and New England regions.The Federal Aviation Administration issued a statement Monday morning, Feb. 25, that winds from the mid-Atlantic to New England may lead to air traffic delays in Boston (BOS), the New York area (EWR/JFK/LGA), Philadelphia (PHL) and the Washington, DC, area (BWI/DCA/IAD). Clouds could also slow incoming and departing flights to and from San Francisco (SFO)....

Changes to the British Airways “Club World” product have been a long time coming. Major issues with the current seat left British Airways miles behind some of its competitors. The lack of direct aisle access, high density eight-across configuration, lack of storage and a lack of privacy including having to stare in the face of your seat neighbor were among some of the most highly criticized aspects.With every new product that hit the market, BA fell even further behind — from Delta One Suite to Qatar Qsuite (even the “old” Qatar product blew Club World out of the water)....

Hong Kong Airlines has announced it will suspend service between Hong Kong (HKG) and San Francisco (SFO) starting October 5, 2019.
