Yesterday Iran and Boeing announced an agreement for the purchase of 80 new commercial aircraft for use by Iran Air, the country’s national airline. But it wasn’t immediately clear whether the nation could come up with financing for the purchase, or if the sale would have enough political support in Congress and from the incoming White House to avoid being blocked.News headlines reported the value of the deal at over $16 billion, but Boeing’s press release notes that figure is based on list prices....

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti broke ground Thursday on a $4 billion, years-in-the-making a project to install a train system at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The train system, named the Automated People Mover (APM), will function similarly to New York’s JFK and Newark International (EWR) airports air-trains. It will connect travelers directly from the LA Metro rail system to airport terminals and offer new, convenient pickup and drop off locations....

On Thursday afternoon, the Department of Transportation issued a final policy statement for service animals and emotional support animals (ESAs). In this policy statement, the DOT is explicitly explaining what types of policies it will and won’t allow.As the number of emotional support animals in aircraft seem to be an ever-growing problem, airlines such as Alaska, American, Delta, Spirit, Southwest and United have tightened rules regarding ESAs. The DOT says that it’s not taking any action against airlines that have required documentation related to vaccination, training or behavior....

Earlier this year, a “mysterious” cruise sickness made headlines.“More than 150 Florida cruise ship passengers struck by mysterious stomach illness,” screamed Newsweek. “Cruise returning early after hundreds of passengers get sick on Royal Caribbean ship,” said CNN.But it turns out the “mystery” illness causing nausea and vomiting among passengers on Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas wasn’t nearly as mysterious at it seemed. Testing by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) quickly determined it was nothing more than norovirus, a common and generally short-lived stomach bug that afflicts millions of Americans every year....
