Two linked international airlines that have been financially faltering showed signs on Friday they might be on the brink of serious distress.India’s Jet Airways and the United Arab Emirates’ Etihad Airways are close partners. Etihad, owned by the government of Abu Dhabi, has a 24% stake in Jet Airways, although there have been reports that it may be looking to sell its shares as it deals with its own problems.According to a Reuters report, Jet Airways is missing payments on some of its leased aircraft....

An upstart US airline from JetBlue founder David Neeleman, placed a firm order for 60 new Airbus A220-300 aircraft on Thursday morning.The order was originally unveiled in July 2018 as a memorandum of understanding between the airline, which has the working name Moxy, and the aircraft manufacturer. Plans to launch Moxy, which will be a low-cost carrier, were also announced last July at the Farnborough Air Show, where sources told TPG’s Mike Arnot that the airline would likely officially take off around 2021....

JetBlue is opening a new route between New York JFK and Guayaquil, Ecuador, one that’s going to be possible thanks to its newest aircraft, the Airbus A321neo. The route will open in December this year. Currently, JetBlue flies to Guayaquil from Fort Lauderdale, but its current airplanes do not have the range to make it there from JFK.Flights from New York (JFK) to Guayaquil (GYE) are pending government approval, however, upon receiving approval, flights will begin on December 5th, 2019....
