American Airlines implemented changes to its oversold flight compensation policy this week in an effort to reduce the total amount it pays to rebook passengers on oversold flights. Rather than providing the same amount of bump compensation to all volunteers, AA will now “pay what you bid.“For example, say four passengers volunteer to be bumped – volunteering at $150, $200, $250 and $300 respectively – and the flight ends up being oversold by three passengers....

British Airways has taken to its social media feeds recently to tease the airline’s upcoming new Club World business class product. With few details available, British Airways has finally released the first few images, yet remains quite cryptic.Around 11am GMT, British Airways shared four rather obscure images of the new Club World product.(Image via British Airways on Facebook)This image, which was posted to both Facebook and Instagram, shows what appears to be a mesh seat cover for the Club World seat....

Three airline shopping portals are making it easy to earn bonus miles by making holiday purchases. Ryanair, one of the largest low-cost carriers in the world, has just entered the top 10 in Europe for the most carbon emissions. Last week, Marriott Rewards launched an online game that celebrated its 29 combined SPG and Marriott brands with 29 daily chances to win prizes. Only, that isn’t how it worked. Last Friday, 22 passengers and two flight attendants were injured when a JetBlue flight suddenly encountered a bad thunderstorm — and as a result, extreme turbulence — on its way from Boston to Sacramento. The plane was eventually diverted to Rapid City.“People were flying out of their seat belts and hitting their heads on the ceiling; it was very scary,” passenger Eileen Lynch told CNN before describing the experience as being like Disney’s “Tower of Terror” ride....

Singapore Airlines announced at the annual IATA summit that the airline is moving toward offering lie-flat seats in business class on all aircraft, even narrow-bodies. While Singapore Airlines already offers lie-flat seats on the majority of its long-haul fleet, the airline will begin installing lie-flat seats on narrow-body aircraft operated by its regional subsidiary SilkAir beginning in 2020. Ultimately, the airline wants to offer a consistent business class experience across its entire network....
