Here is a little piece of (ironic) advice to keep in mind while you plan your summer travels: if you’re visiting Turkey, print your e-visa.The Turkey e-visa system is supposed to allow visitors into the country via “soft” copies, or visas purchased and presented on smartphones or computers. However, recently, that hasn’t quite been the case.The Telegraph has reported a series of stories in which passengers were turned away at their departure gates in the UK, as they did not have a hard copy of their visa on them....

Sunday was a momentous day for Southwest Airlines: the carrier landed its inaugural flight to Hawaii at Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL). The flight marked a culmination of 18 months of planning for the Dallas-based airline.And Southwest employees were brimming with the aloha spirit to mark the historic occasion. Same goes for the passengers, in particular the Klan family, who’ve been on the past 30 inaugural Southwest flights.The day was full of celebrations with traditional Hawaiian flare....

The story of Steven Rothstein is known to frequent fliers: he flew tens of millions of miles on American Airlines, only to have his lifetime pass revoked by the airline for allegedly abusing it. In 2011, Rothstein lost his case against American, in which he sued the airline for revoking an AAirpass, citing “fraudulent usage,” an AAirpass he purchased in 1987. We wrote about it at the time, and the story has resurfaced now in The Guardian....

Brussels Airlines, a Star Alliance carrier and Lufthansa Group subsidiary, has announced it will make upgrades to the interiors of its long-haul Airbus aircraft — including adding a premium economy cabin and an upgraded business class seat.The carrier currently has 12 Airbus A330s and two Airbus A340s (used for Eurowings flights) — it will retrofit its four A330-200s and 12 of the larger A330-300s.Brussels says it’s investing €10 million into each aircraft’s renovation with the first A330-300 rolling out this April....

This past week, Chinese state-owned aircraft manufacturer Comac received three orders from three major Chinese airlines. Each order was for 35 Comac ARJ21 aircraft, the aircraft manufacturer’s regional jet. The three orders bring the number of outstanding orders for Comac to 643 aircraft spanning two models.According to a report from FlightGlobal, three major Chinese airlines, Air China, China Southern, and China Eastern each placed orders for 35 Comac ARJ21-70 aircraft. The deal is valued at an estimated $1....
