After 33 hours, Turkish Airlines, the flag carrier and largest airline in Turkey, has completed its massive move from Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport (ISL) to the airline’s new home at Istanbul Airport (IST). Turkish Airlines even completed what’s been dubbed “The Great Move” ahead of schedule. While the airline initially planned for the move from Ataturk to the new Istanbul Airport to take 45 hours, the airline confirmed in a press release that it managed to complete the process 12 hours earlier than planned....

The USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor will reopen Sunday, Sept. 1, after a 15-month restoration.The memorial has been closed to public foot traffic since May 2018, when damage from exceptionally high tides in 2017 required repairs of more than $2.1 million.The USS Arizona sunk on Dec. 7, 1941, after a surprise attack by Japanese bombers killed 1,177 crew members on the ship. More than 330 crew members survived, but approximately 900 sailors and Marines remain entombed in the ship....
More than five years after the official merger of American Airlines and US Airways, flight attendants from both airlines were finally combined into one scheduling system in October 2018. This opened the door for flight attendants to transfer between bases, whether for personal reasons or moving to a base where they might have higher seniority or routes they’d rather operate.Now we’re learning that some of those crew base moves may become forced, as American plans to cut flight attendant staffing by one-third at two bases while expanding at other airports....

Earlier this year, it was announced that Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort Villages & Spa, a popular all-inclusive resort in Providenciales, was slated to close indefinitely in 2021. The impending closure was said to be the result of long-standing issues at the resort around a $60 million tax dispute.The resort had allowed guests to make changes to their reservations or cancel their stay altogether. However, a representative from a PR firm hired by the resort contacted TPG on Saturday to confirm that the property is no longer slated to close, although no details were provided about what prompted this decision or if the tax situation has been resolved....

The 737 MAX has been banned from flying in Europe. The European Union’s Aviation Safety Agency, EASA, issued on Tuesday a directive “suspending all flight operations of all Boeing Model 737-8 MAX and 737-9 MAX aeroplanes in Europe.” Effective Tuesday evening local time, EASA has also suspended “all commercial flights performed by third-country operators into, within or out of the EU of the above mentioned models.“The decision follows hours after the UK Civil Aviation Authority banned 737 MAX aircraft from operating to, from or entering UK airspace....
In the wake of last month’s fatal Lion Air crash in which a Boeing 737 MAX 8 plane suddenly plummeted into the Java Sea and killed all 189 people on board, there has been intense scrutiny over the popular aircraft model involved in the crash.Officials have made significant headway in the investigation of the ill-fated plane. They’ve identified that erroneous data from the jet’s airspeed indicators and a sensor that reports the angle of the plane’s nose might have set off an automatic stall-prevention system that Boeing didn’t tell any pilots or airlines about....
