Award redemptions for flights between the United States and the United Kingdom are now a little cheaper thanks to one airline’s decision to reduce carrier-imposed fees on select routes.A British Airways spokesperson has confirmed to TPG that the airline has reduced carrier-imposed fees (CIFs) on a number of routes between the US and the UK. Routes on which the reduced carrier-imposed fees apply will now incur fees of just $65 one-way, down from $175....

Starting on August 27, Chase Premier Platinum Checking customers will be automatically transitioned to Sapphire Banking accounts, and Sapphire Banking will be open for new customers as well. Etihad Airways is reportedly seeking more than $500 million in financing to help pay for its next round of Boeing 787 Dreamliner deliveries. The airline has sent out a number of request for proposals to banks to finance the delivery of four new 787s.According to the report, loans for 787s generally have a 12 year maturity. The financing would most likely be provided by Abu Dhabi based banks.Etihad currently operates 26 787 Dreamliners in its fleet and has another 45 on order....

Qantas has selected an aircraft for Project Sunrise, its plan to start nonstop flights from Sydney to New York and London that would be the longest in the world — and it’s a win for Airbus over Boeing.The Australian airline announced that it is working with Airbus to prepare a contract for up to 12 A350-1000s. However, it is not certain that Qantas will actually begin the flights. In a press release, the airline said it will make a final decision in March 2020 on whether to operate the routes....

Ultra-low-cost carrier Ryanair has issued a revised outlook for its yearly profits. The airline is citing overcapacity in the European market and lower-than-expected winter fares. The company says winter fares are now expected to fall 7%, a huge increase over the previous estimate of 2% drop.We have certainly seen low-cost carriers struggle in the last few months. Wow, Norwegian and FlyBe have all seen their share of issues. While Wow Air and FlyBe have sought out partners or been acquired to help deal with their issues, Ryanair hasn’t reached that level just yet....
