You’ve probably heard about the upcoming need to have an ID compliant with Real ID laws in order to fly; soon, if you don’t have a compliant driver license or other state-issued ID, you won’t be able to fly. (We have a whole guide about Real ID, by the way.)But sometimes, the problem isn’t that you don’t have the right ID to fly. It’s that you don’t have any ID, period....

TO THE POINT: Like its counterpart at LAX, Etihad’s stylish lounge at JFK is the perfect place to unwind before a flight. The pros: a gorgeous aesthetic that matches the plane you’ll be flying, lots of seating areas, excellent service and a private space for Residence passengers. The cons: there’s no Six Senses Spa or men’s shaving salon.After successfully bidding on an upgrade from business class to the first-class Apartment on a recent Etihad flight to Abu Dhabi (AUH), TPG Special Contributor Eric Rosen checked out Etihad’s swanky lounge in JFK....

View the current offers here.Kuwait Airways recently made news by ending its route between New York-JFK and London’s Heathrow after the US Department of Transportation threatened to take action against the airline for its refusal to sell tickets to Israeli passengers. With legal action pending, the airline informed the Transportation Department that it would be ending its service between New York and London altogether rather than allowing Israeli citizens on board....

You may have noticed on a recent flight a small, not-so-subtle advertisement for Southwest.com, WestJet.com or Ryanair. The ad is on the upward sloping mini-wing on the tip of the wing, called a winglet. The tips of airplane wings are adorned with all manner of winglets, sometimes featuring a distinct curve, like the Airbus A350 or Boeing 787. Passenger jets without winglets, in fact, are becoming increasingly rare.While the concept of winglets has been around since the early days of aviation, NASA researchers are credited with kickstarting the winglet craze....

The Allied Pilots Association (APA), the union that represents American Airlines’ 15,000 pilots, submitted a proposal urging the carrier to change the way it treats its pilots.APA’s President Daniel Carey sent a letter to AA’s CEO and President on behalf of the union’s member pilots demanding that it is time for the airline to provide pilots with better schedules, more pay and increase the reliability of the airline’s operations. The union said that after five years since the airline filed for bankruptcy, “it’s time to move beyond a labor agreement borne out of a desperate era....

The aircraft, which Delta claims will have “a widebody feel on a narrowbody jet,” has had quite the parade of late. It wrapped up its time in the paint shop, successfully conducted a pre-delivery test flight and will soon be fawned over by AvGeeks who won a quartet of SkyMiles Experience auctions to tour it in Quebec....

Delta Air Lines is the least unionized airline based in the US, but the company’s efforts to maintain that status quo created a stir on social media this week.The airline’s flight attendants last rejected unionization in late 2010, following the 2008 acquisition of Northwest Airlines, and the company now operates a website (DontRiskItDontSignIt.com) that aims to sway employees against efforts to unionize.Recently, a handful of flyers produced by the airline have gone viral....
