Here in New York City, inches of snow have indicated that winter is upon us. Over in Australia, though, Melbourne Airport (MEL) is breaking out the lawn chairs to ring in summer’s arrival.The airport has reopened its collaboration with Stomping Ground Beer Company to bring travelers a beer garden located between terminals 3 and 4 (Terminal 3½). And for those who maybe aren’t interested in getting drunk at 10am when the garden first starts pouring, the restaurant also serves local coffee and food from some of Melbourne’s best food trucks....

The three US legacy airlines have beef with Qatar Airways… again.American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines just recently put a simmering feud with the Gulf carrier to rest in January 2018. The three US airlines had long accused Qatar of unfairly receiving government subsidies to compete in the US market. That dispute ended after Qatar agreed to open its accounting books and agreed it wasn’t planning any flight routes from the US to destinations outside Qatar, which would be known as a “fifth freedom” flights....

In what’s arguably one of the airline’s most exciting route announcements to date, United will be launching nonstop service between Newark (EWR) and Cape Town, South Africa (CPT) on December 15, 2019.Previously, the carrier’s business-class cabin was completely sold out on that very first flight, but United just opened up a handful of seats. There are at least nine available to book at the time of this writing.Unfortunately there aren’t any deals to be had — if you’re paying cash, expect to spend at least $8,400 on a round-trip ticket, with some return flights costing a whole lot more....

A United Airlines 757 returned to service Sunday with a fresh new look.Artist Tsungwei Moo won a competition to design the livery, which highlights California icons such as the Golden Gate Bridge and palm trees.Moo said it’s a dream come true for her to be able to see her designs on a United plane. She immigrated to San Francisco from Taiwan aboard a United flight.“This plane has its mission now, to bring more joy into people’s life, connecting people and uniting the world through experience art,” she said....

British Airways’ winter timetable began on Sunday, and with that update, the airline swapped a number of routes between Terminal 3 and Terminal 5, the two terminals it uses at London Heathrow (LHR). Two of those swaps affect U.S. destinations, San Diego and Phoenix.Effective Sunday, October 27, the airline swapped the following flights between terminals:Billund (BLL), Hanover (HAJ), Zagreb (ZAG) and San Diego (SAN) now depart from Terminal 3;Luxembourg (LUX), Lyon (LYS) and Phoenix (PHX) now depart from Terminal 5....
