Update 3/24/20: The United Arab Emirates has now suspended flights effective immediately, however aircraft currently outside the UAE will be permitted to fly as scheduled.On Sunday, in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, Emirates announced the suspension of most flights, trimming its operations to a small number of destinations around the world. Now, even reduced service won’t be possible, following a new government ruling to suspend flights entirely.In one of the most drastic COVID-19 containment measures we’ve seen to date, the United Arab Emirates has ordered a temporary air service suspension, both for foreign carriers operating service to the UAE, and those based within the country as well, including Emirates, Etihad and Flydubai....

View the current offers here.From June 16-22 Chase is increasing the sign-up bonus on the Ink Bold and Ink Plus cards to 60,000 Ultimate Rewards points when you spend $5,000 in 3 months and the $95 annual fee is waived the first year. The normal offer is 50,000 points, so this is a nice 20% increase.The sign-up bonus on the no-annual fee cards is also getting a nice 25% increase - Ink Cash and Ink Classic cards increase from 20,000 to 25,000 points when you spent $3,000 within the first three months....

JetBlue plans to make the Guadeloupe its latest destination in the Caribbean.The carrier plans to add flights to the French Caribbean island beginning in February 2020. Pending regulatory approval, JetBlue will offer service from its hub at New York JFK to Guadeloupe’s Pointe-à-Pitre International Airport (PTP).JetBlue did not reveal a specific start date for the route, saying only that it expects seats to go on sale “in the coming weeks.”The route continues JetBlue’s expansion into the Caribbean, which has provided a lucrative niche for the New York-based airline....

The US Federal Aviation Administration has banned select MacBook Pro laptops from being carried on, or checked into the cargo holds of, aircraft. The FAA’s decision follows Apple’s announcement that some of the older MacBook Pro units posed a fire risk.According to the FAA’s statement, the agency has alerted major US airlines to the recall, explaining that the affected laptops should not be allowed to fly as cargo or in passengers’ carry-on baggage....

SPG and Amex just announced this week that they will increase the annual fee on the American Express Starwood Preferred Guest card from $65 to $95, but they’re also adding some benefits to go with it....

A major European airline is cutting back on flights and replacing that capacity with high-speed trains instead.From 29 March 2020, Dutch flag carrier KLM will replace one of its five daily flights from Amsterdam to Brussels with trains operated by the French-Belgian high-speed rail company Thalys. The flight between the two cities is so short that passengers spend only a brief 20 minutes in the sky, compared to the two-hour train journey....

Norwegian is no longer selling nonstop flights from the US to Shannon (SNN) and Cork (ORK) in Ireland because of a lack of suitable aircraft available to operate these unique routes, as a result of the worldwide Boeing 737 MAX grounding.The airline previously operated these transatlantic flights using relatively small 737 MAX 8 aircraft whose extended range allowed the planes to fly nonstop to small airports on the US East Coast, including Stewart Newburgh (SWF) and Providence (PVD)....
