By far, one of the most memorable and enjoyable things we did on our trip to the United Kingdom this summer was attending The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. A drunk baggage handler for American Airlines subsidiary carrier Piedmont Airlines was an accidental stowaway on a flight to Chicago after he took a nap in the plane’s cargo hold.The worker was loading bags onto flight AA 363 at Kansas City International Airport (MCI) on Saturday Oct. 27. He was working the luggage ramp when he decided to sneak into the cargo hold of the Boeing 737-800 for a nap.No one noticed that the unidentified man was missing from his work post — or that he was in the belly of the aircraft — because the plane took off with the employee still in the cargo hold at 5:52am local time....

Last year, I booked a longer layover in Istanbul en route to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from Madrid to experience a free city tour, as I had never been to Turkey and thought it would provide a great introduction. Of course, when I was booking all this, I wasn’t expecting an attempted military coup, but I ended up going through with my travel plans regardless. In the end, I was really happy I went, and the tour was a fun and insightful experience....

If you’re traveling through Phoenix Sky Harbor in early November, prepare for possible delays.Phoenix (PHX) announced that runway 7R/25L will be closed from 10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, through 7 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, for maintenance work.Runway 7R/25L is primarily used for arrivals. The airport is anticipating possible arrival delays on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. That period is the peak traffic time during the closure, according to a press release....
This past week on a flight from Zurich, Switzerland, to Bangkok, Thailand, two off-duty Thai Airways pilots allegedly delayed the plane for two hours over a seating dispute. A complaint filed by passengers who were “downgraded” from first class to business class claims that the two off-duty pilots were requesting first class seating even though the cabin was full.It appears that the pilots in command of the flight to Bangkok would not depart Zurich until their fellow off-duty employees were given seats in first class....
