American Airlines is slashing its schedule to New York City, suspending most of its flights at all three local airports.With the schedule cuts, American will fly just 13 daily round-trip flights combined across JFK, LaGuardia and Newark airports during a temporary schedule that begins Tuesday, April 7, and runs through May 6.American’s decision comes as New York has emerged as a coronavirus hotspot.“As coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in New York City and the surrounding region continues to increase, along with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines for travel to the area, the demand for flights to the New York area is rapidly evaporating,” David Seymour, American’s senior vice president for operations said in a memo to employees on Sunday night....

The city of Amsterdam and its sex workers have had enough of crass tourists gawking and behaving badly in De Wallen, the Red Light District. Overcrowding and unlicensed prostitution, which has been linked to human trafficking, have worsened to the point that the mayor’s office is stepping in.“We are banning tours that take visitors along sex workers’ windows, not only because we want to prevent overcrowding in the red-light district, but also because it is not respectful to sex workers,” Udo Kock, Amsterdam’s deputy mayor, said in a statement on Wednesday....

Premium economy cabins are all the rage in the airline industry. Passengers demanded a product that was nicer than an extra-legroom economy seat at a cheaper price point than a fully flat business seat. The airlines heard them, and many now offer a premium economy cabin on long-haul flights.But after a recent flight in Premium Plus on United’s Boeing 787-10, I couldn’t help but question whether there’s really much of a difference between the service in premium economy and in economy class....

Emirates announced on Friday that it will soon launch the shortest flight on an A380 in the world – a route of just 211 miles from Dubai to Muscat operated by the soon-to-be-out-of-production superjumbo jet.The carrier with an all-long-haul fleet said that starting July 1, two daily flights will operate from its main base in Dubai (DXB) into Oman’s Muscat International Airport (MCT). The route is not new to Emirates, but the airline usually operates the quick flight with one of its Boeing 777 aircraft....
