Russian Skyteam alliance airline, Aeroflot, recently announced that it will begin to sell alcohol on board again on specific routes following a nine-year ban on the sale of alcohol.As of last Friday, alcoholic beverages have been placed on economy menus, according to TASS. Beer will be served on six-hour flights and wine will be served on select three-hour flights.The ban was most directly in response to incidents involving intoxicated passengers and pilots on the airline....

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) issued fines totaling $1.45 million USD last year, according to a report by The Washington Post. The Washington Post obtained this information thanks to a request made under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The report also revealed that the number one source of civil penalties levied by the TSA was due to passengers or crew attempting to bring firearms through security checkpoints.More than 4,000 actions were filed against travelers or crew who attempted to bring a firearm through security checkpoints....

To say TSA screeners had a busy week would be an understatement. Granted it was going into a holiday weekend, screeners in two New York City airports set new passenger records.On Thursday, TSA agents at New York’s La Guardia (LGA) airport screened a record-setting 59,698 passengers in a single day. This surpassed the old record set in 2018 by nearly 1,000 passengers, according to a press release from the agency.The TSA’s Federal Security Director for LaGuardia Airport, Robert Duffy, said in the release that “officers expected a larger than usual throughput and they remained focused on security procedures to ensure that travelers reached their destinations safely....

It’s not time to say “auf weidersehen” to Berlin’s Tegel Airport (TXL) just yet. The close-to-downtown airport will continue operating for at least a few more months, extending the life of an airport that could have closed to flights in less than two weeks.That comes after Berlin’s airport authority — the Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH, or FBB — agreed just last month to a plan that would “temporarily” shutter Tegel beginning June 15....

British Airways has closed reservations for its service between London Gatwick (LGW) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL) as of Sept. 8, 2019.The airline has been operating the service thrice weekly using a three-class Boeing 777 aircraft to the popular cruise ship departure point. This route operated for almost two years and was launched following low-cost, arch-rival Norwegian’s decision to fly the route.Since then, Norwegian has moved its Gatwick service from Fort Lauderdale to Miami (MIA), where British Airways already has a strong presence as a Oneworld alliance hub....
