Airline workers could see a bump in compensation as carriers with Boeing 737 MAX in their fleets agree to settlements with the beleaguered jetmaker.American Airlines is still negotiating its settlement with Boeing over the troubled jet, which has cost airlines hundreds of millions of dollars as the aircraft’s grounding nears its 11th month. Once terms are reached, however, the carrier expects to share some of that amount with workers.“As we’ve said before, we expect American will be compensated for the lost earnings that the MAX grounding has caused,” American Airlines spokesman Ross Feinstein said to CNBC on Thursday....

American Airlines was the first US-based airline to roll out a true premium economy product, starting with its first Boeing 787-9 in October 2016. Since then, AA has retrofitted more than 100 widebody aircraft — including all of its Boeing 787-9, 777-200, 777-300ER and Airbus A330-200 aircraft. And it’s in the process of retrofitting its Boeing 787-8 aircraft and expects to complete that retrofit in mid-2019.Throughout this process, the question has been: When will travelers be able to book premium economy awards?...

United is not budging. In its quarterly earnings call on Wednesday, the airline’s Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Nocella said that even though the competition is changing its offering, United is “happy with where we’re at with basic economy.“While its two main competitors in the basic economy sector, American Airlines and Delta Air Lines, now offer passengers one personal and one carry-on bag on board for free, United doesn’t see itself altering its BE product....

What would it be like to ride on the Hyperloop — the 700 mph (1,100 km/hr) propulsion-driven transportation of the future?In the video below from Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, you can see how it would look to ride in a windowless pod that is zooming through an airless tube and carrying passengers at the speed of sound (or really close to it).Initial impression of the pod ride is that, apart from the superfast speed, it looks like it is going to be pretty… well… boring....
