US-based airlines have begun offering a full meal to some economy passengers on certain transcontinental flights — including American, Delta and United — but, in some cases, unless you’re in the right seat on one of those premium routes, you’re not going to get free grub.Although United’s one of the participating carriers — with a hot meal available in Economy Plus on select transcons, in this case — the airline’s longest domestic flights only have “buy onboard” food, including those from the mainland US (and even East Coast) to Hawaii, an up-to 11-hour trip....

Today, I want to share a story from TPG reader Amy, who missed an opportunity to redeem miles on a recent flight:We put our AAdvantage miles to good use in booking round-trip tickets to Brazil in 2018, but we also needed to fly LATAM within Brazil to visit Iguazu Falls from Rio. Airbus delivered on Friday the first A350 to the airplane’s newest customer, Fiji Airways. It will soon begin serving Los Angeles from the Pacific island nation, becoming the latest A350 serving the United States. Fiji Airways will join the ranks of airlines sending the latest Airbus long-haul jet to the U.S., including Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific and Virgin Atlantic, among others.On Friday, TPG also got to look inside the aircraft, as Fiji Airways took delivery of the first A350 from the Airbus plant in Toulouse, France....

Allegiant Air plans to begin flying to Mexico, a move that would give the airline its first-ever regular international service.The Las Vegas-based “ultra low-cost carrier” (ULCC) did not reveal specifics, saying only that it has applied to the US Department of Transportation to begin scheduled service between the countries. The company described its application as a “first step in the process,” adding “projected dates and locations for commencement of service will be announced at later dates as the process moves forward....

People in New York City and surrounding areas were treated on Tuesday to a low-level overflight by the U.S. Air Force and Navy’s demonstration teams, the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels.
