An Icelandair flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Canada on Friday night when the cockpit windshield shattered.Icelandair Flight 688 took off from Orlando (MCO) for Reykjavik (KEF) at 7pm ET on Friday. The airline says that while the flight was following its route through Canada, the pilots “noticed a crack in one of the cockpit windows” on the Boeing 757-200s and diverted to the nearest Canadian airport, Bagotville (YBG)....

Passengers on JetBlue flight 324 from Los Angeles (LAX) got an unexpected delay to their travel plans when their plane was struck by lightning shortly after take off. The plane, an Airbus A321 that was headed to New York’s JFK, returned to LAX and landed safety.Lightning strikes are nothing new for the aviation industry. General lightning stats for aircraft show commercial airliners in the United States can expect to be struck by lightning once for every 1000 hours of operation, or roughly once per year....

JetBlue just extended its flight schedule, meaning you can now book flights through Feb. 12, 2020. Previously, JetBlue flights could only be booked through Jan. 8, 2020, so you can now go ahead and plan your vacations for the rest of January and the first half of February. This also includes the highly popular MLK long weekend. Having three days off from work or school is the perfect opportunity to extend a vacation....

The month of February has been quite busy for Avianca and its LifeMiles program. The carrier first underwent a scheduled maintenance from Feb. 1-5 during which time its site went offline. When it came back up, there was an entirely new interface, including enhanced partner availability but a somewhat buggy user experience.Well, it appears that the bugs extend to other aspects of the program, as transfers from American Express Membership Rewards to Avianca LifeMiles are currently unavailable....

For years, many airlines have restricted passengers from accessing a lavatory outside of their ticketed cabin.Generally, crew members cite security as the reason behind that particular policy, though it also has the benefit of limiting traffic in premium cabins — business- and first-class passengers don’t have to worry about a constant flow of travelers passing by their seats. By far, the benefit I value most about frequent flyer programs is that members can earn and redeem miles for flights not only with the program’s own airline, but with partner carriers as well. For Air Canada’s Aeroplan, that means flights with all 26 Star Alliance member airlines, along with a small number of non-alliance partners, including limited redemption opportunities with Cathay Pacific, Cathay Dragon, GOL and Olympic Air.Following an unintentional tease last year, Aeroplan confirmed a very exciting new partner on Wednesday....

More than a month after the end of the US government shutdown, about 1,000 TSA employees are still waiting to receive pay owed to them, according to a CNN report.In what David Pekoske, the TSA Administrator, said was a move to “alleviate some of the financial hardship” the decision was made to issue a partial payment to employees during the shutdown. This seems to have caused the current issue.According to CNN’s unnamed source at the TSA, the issues are related to pay period 26....
