Update: Some offers mentioned below are no longer available. View the current offers here.Up until this year, Costco only accepted credit card payments from one card issuer: Amex. That exclusive deal ended this March, the same month that the big box giant announced that it would be moving its lucrative co-brand card to Citi. That left American Express looking for a new partner.Well, it seems that Amex has found a new home with Sam’s Club. As of this week, all Sam’s Club stores are officially accepting American Express cards, letting you rack up Membership Rewards points, Delta miles or Starpoints every time you swipe. As a reminder, here are some of the top consumer cards in Amex’s current portfolio:Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American ExpressAmerican Express Premier Rewards Gold CardThe Platinum Card from American ExpressAmex EveryDay Preferred Credit Card from American ExpressNote that while the EveryDay Preferred card earns 3 points per dollar at supermarkets, warehouse clubs (such as Sam’s Club) do not qualify. You can still earn a 50% bonus on points when you make 30 or more purchases in a single billing period, however. Additionally, Sam’s Club purchases are ineligible for double points with the Premier Rewards Gold card, which awards 2 points per dollar spent at supermarkets.Because all of the above cards will earn one point per dollar at Sam’s Club, you’ll get the best value when you charge purchases to the SPG Amex card, as SPG points are worth 2.5 cents each compared to 2 cents for Membership Rewards points.
