The incident, which took place during the day on Thanksgiving, is connected to the theft of a tractor after the teenagers escaped from a group home near Salt Lake City, Utah. After gaining access to the tractor, the teens then drove to Jensen, Utah, roughly 3.5 hours away from Salt Lake City, where they stayed with friends. On Thanksgiving, the boys, aged 14 and 15, traveled to a nearby private airstrip at which point they stole the small aircraft.(Image via Uintah Sheriff’s Office)The two boys managed to fly the small single-engine Cessna at least 32 miles west of the airfield, where the aircraft was seen flying quite low around US-40. A post from the Unitah County sheriff’s office states that the boys originally intended to fly back to the Salt Lake City area but ended up landing at Vernal Regional Airport. It was upon arrival at which time the boys were taken into custody.Vernal, UT in relation to Salt Lake City, UT (Image via Google Maps)The boys are being held on multiple charges.
